Youth Education - OROT haGan Religious School

What sort of religious school has Or haGan established and what are the expectations of students and parents?

We have established the first new religious school in the Jewish community in many years. It has a traditional, multi-faceted, Judaic studies curriculum imparting synagogue skills in Biblical and modern Hebrew. It is accompanied by a full-fledged classical education taught in an engaging and meaningful way.

Our outstanding staff and dedicated Rabbi assures close personal attention to our student’s spiritual and intellectual development. We cover prayer and spirituality, Jewish history, values and ethics (midot and musar), Israel, and Bible study.

Our children also have the opportunity to participate in some new and exciting outdoor adventures, including a Hazon program, a Jewish vision quest, and a Torah/Tevah program incorporating earth-based Jewish values and nature education. We also offer field trips to experience traditional Jewish living in person such as tallit making, visits to a matzo-making factory, workshops in Hebrew calligraphy and scribal practice, tying tzizit, etc. Our goal is to create a holistic program of Judaic studies. We strive to provide the best supplementary program that we can during classes twice a week. There is an option for a third day.

Our Talmud Torah program will include numerous family retreats, family neighborhood Shabbat experiences, and traditional Friday night kabbalat Shabbat services that involve young people in prayer leadership. Children will have a close relationship to the Rabbi and teachers at Or haGan. Parents who join this summer will have an important voice in creating a curriculum that meets the needs of our families.
